Fescue grasses are the most common for Atlanta lawns. Fescue is a cool weather grass which is fairly drought tolerant with a deep root system and is somewhat shade tolerant. Fescue is grown from seed and grows in clumps with wide blades that are rich green in color. Annual core aeration and overseeding is recommended in order to maintain a thick, lush Fescue lawn.
Bermuda grasses are the second most common lawn grass in our area. Bermuda grass is a warm weather grass that requires frequent watering in order to stay green and plush. Bermuda can be grown from seeds or plugs; however most Bermuda grass lawns are done with sod. Installing Bermuda sod allows you to have a very nice lawn in a matter of weeks.
Zoysia grass is an excellent choice for lawns in our area. Zoysia grass is a creeping warm weather grass that greens up faster than Bermuda grass. Zoysia grass is a deep green, fine-bladed grass that is tolerant of poor soil, cold, shade and foot traffic. Zoysia lawns have a dense carpet-like turf; however it does require frequent watering in warm months.
Our sod installation services include both surface preparation and the physical sod placement. A sod project has optimal success when the ground has been adequately prepared. This may include leveling a yard with fill dirt or adding nutrient rich top soil as a base. With surface preparation completed then carefully place sod pieces so that joints are tight. A new sod project is a perfect time to install an underground irrigation system.
Fescue lawns need annual core aeration and overseeding to maintain density and thickness. Fescue overseeding is usually done in early fall; however it may be done in early spring. Late fall is recommended as this cool season grass can grow and develop a good root system before enduring hot, dry summer months. We can do a complete core aeration and overseeding of your lawn on a single visit at competitive pricing.
Established lawns require fertilizing treatments. A lawn fertilizing program utilizes different formulations to affect specific outcomes, and is exact in the application process and density. Applying too much fertilier can actually kill lawn grasses. Focusing on only having a green lawn ignores the fertilizing needs of the root system. We know the optimal lawn fertilizing methods and fertilizer blends that can bring out the best in your lawn.
